Korean health insurance covers the whole population living in the country. Insurance benefits are provided for the insured or their dependents’ injuries, childbirth, health promotions, rehabilitations, or preventions of diseases. NHIS gives service benefits or cash benefits. The Korean health insurance program imposes different insurance contributions on the insured based on their payment capability, but it provides the same insurance benefits to all the insured.

- General Screening
- Expenses : no co-payment on patients
- 22 items including blood test
- ※ those who are suspected in general screening as high blood pressure or diabetes will be taken final diagnosis test
- Cancer screening
- Cost: shared by NHIS (90%) and Beneficiary (10%)
- Stomach Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Breast Cancer and Liver Cancer screening and pap-test
- ※ colorectal cancer, cervical cancer : no co-payment on patients
